I am not generally a fan of horror books, although I enjoy transgressive fiction, and dark comedy of all sorts. MF 'humanizes" a serial killer and he leads us through his journey, and an epic one at that -- the novel timeline spans multiple decades in three "acts". The 3rd act coda is definitely worth waiting for. Dialogue is crackling throughout, but is especially good between Susan and Richard, particularly in the 3rd act. I also enjoyed reading about the relationship and rivalry between Richard and his father. A splendid first effort.Product details

The prose is rich and every word is crafted and chosen perfectly. The novel tells of the life of a man who has a dark psyche. Maybe borderline, maybe just psychotic, I'm unsure. It starts slow and has some lulled moments, but overall, it's gripping and the reader is torn between feeling sympathetic or disgusted by this man. If you like the darker stuff and one that makes you think, give this a read.
I loved this book! It was so unique... You get thrown into a serial killers psyche and see how they feel, see, and do. This book was phantasmagorical. Such amazing use of surrealism and a true mind bender!
I've been completely blown away by this book, like the subject matter in this book it is a work of art. The author has put their all into this and as usual when reading an Indie book I have no idea why this hasn't won loads of awards when the actual winners are not deserving of the accolades they get.
This is one of the darkest, most messed-up things I've had the pleasure to read, at one point there was a plot twist that left me with my mouth open, I was nowhere near expecting what happened to actually happen, it's not often that a writer can get one over on me but it has happened a couple of times here.
The writing style flows well, you're lead from one scene to the next seamlessly. The characters develop well and are complex, a large amount of the story is psychology and that really helps you understand the characters.
I now can't believe I've got to wait for M. F. Sullivan to write another book.

A debut novel like this one only comes around a few times every decade, and it is the kind of novel that will be revered for generations for bringing another literary giant out into the world.
M. F. Sullivan has, in Delilah, My Woman, created a work of art that will annoy you, haunt you, disgust you, fascinate you and, most importantly, keep you turning pages long after they've run out. This novel is not as much an homage to Nabokov as it is a gift to his work, a reminder that his greatness lives on. You will sneer at the first chapter and tremble with excitement at the last, wondering how such a piece of fiction is not yet featured in the Times. This is not the work of an amateur, but an emerging star. Never has this hipster been so satisfied to discover something that he will one day claim to have liked before it was cool. Buy this book, or so help me God.
